Exploring the Latest in Drone Ambience with Stellaire

A tad under four months ago, Stellaire released their first piece of fantastic drone work.

Long time no see, Insight! I could not imagine a better reentrance into my blog writing than shedding some light on Stellaire, an incredibly talented young French producer.

While not a specific album or EP review, it’s encouraging to hear new artists diving headfirst into the ambient world, and here at Insight Music we want to do everything we can to foster more ambient creativity. Take a listen to one of my favorites below.

Hearing pieces like this has been a breath of fresh air for me. At only 14 years old, Stellaire is creating pieces on par with artists like Unforseen; who Stellaire explains is a great inspiration for his creation. The use of cooperative chord progressions and filter sweeps is immaculate, the sound design is right on, and his song titling brings home the atmosphere. It songs like this that have brought me through many trials in life. I could easily say too much, so I want to let Stellaire and his music speak for themselves.

“Before I started creating ambient music, I was already listening to a lot of ambient. Indeed, ambient is very dear to me. It allows to get lost in incessant daydreams, to peacefully think about life, the world and the universe. But also and above all, it contains the emotions and feelings of its creator, which can be transmitted in different ways, depending on the mood of the listener. Ambient helps and comforts in the hard times, evaporates the negative mood. It is a place to vent unwanted emotions, whether for the listener or for the artist. That’s why I started.”

If this isn’t a spot on description of what ambient means to so many of us, I don’t know what would be. It’s been truly regenerating to watch the rise of Stellaire with songs like the one above and to the child drifting out at sea. However, there’s more to this artist! If you aren’t a huge fan of drone music, Stellaire actually first gained traction with wave music, releasing tracks like this one. If you can spare a few minutes, I strongly encourage you to take a deep dive.

I want to leave you with that. Just a taste of a brilliant new musician in hopes you will want more. Go! Listen! Explore!
