About the Artist
Dom Delore is an ambient music composer whose work is deeply personal and emotive. “Ambient music is a part of me. I find great comfort in it,” he says.
His passion for the genre is rooted in its ability to calm the soul and inspire moments of solitude. With Sleep, Vol. 1, Delore continues his journey as an artist devoted to exploring the boundaries of ambient sound, creating music that resonates with both himself and his audience.
His creative process, described as a “stream of consciousness,” is intuitive and organic, allowing for moments of spontaneity and discovery.
“Don’t think about anything else but how you feel in the moment when hearing it. If you like what you hear, and it feels truthful to you, then it is good, and it is ready. Trust your heart.”

Album Review
It’s easy to recognise Delore’s deep love for soothing, warming ambient music when listening through the album.
Among the many fascinating pieces, “Faces on the Moon” stands out as a truly perfect-sounding single. Reflecting the album artwork, it beautifully embodies the heart of soothing the soul with music.
Its passages of droning ambient soundscapes evoke a sense of the cosmos while maintaining an earthy, organic feel, grounded by the delicate interplay of piano and strings.
Delore’s creative process is as diverse as his tools, with elements of the album developed using various DAWs and instruments. “Whatever I’m feeling in the moment or what’s around is what I use to capture the idea initially,” he notes.
This approach allows for surprising transformations, as sounds are shaped and reshaped through effects like Valhalla Supermassive Reverb and Guitar Rig. “A lot of the pad sounds and ambient sounds are actually a guitar, but when running it through effects, it transforms into something more ethereal,” he adds.

The three parts of “Drifting Through the Maritimes” form an elegant section of the album, masterfully brought to life and perfect for stress relief.
Its long, droning, and harmonious atmosphere is tranquil, peaceful, and incredibly warming. Nature’s sounds envelop the listener—a distant river or waves, perhaps—progressing to become ever closer. The story develops further with the gentle introduction of birdsong as the waves grow more present, creating a vivid auditory landscape.
The droning, arpeggiated synthesiser melody wraps around the listener like a warm embrace, providing a sense of comfort. Part three is particularly captivating, with its tender conclusion that gently fades out, leaving a lasting impression of a cherished journey through the Maritimes.
This section is a perfect choice for anyone seeking music to relax or drift off to sleep.
The album as a whole is a treasure trove of gorgeous, warm, and atmospheric ambient pads, playful melodies, and comforting sounds. “Windy Wooded Meadows” immediately caught my attention. The title alone sparked vivid imagery, and the music perfectly complemented that mental picture.
Organic and playful, with a touch of melancholy, it conjures a sense of innocence reminiscent of Studio Ghibli soundtracks. Its childlike melody and whimsical charm quickly made it a personal favourite while listening through the album.
The album’s final mastering took place at his studio, Rainy Day Mastering, a process Delore describes as a “labour of love.” Despite moments of doubt common to all artists, he found clarity through meditation, listening, and trusting his instincts.
